**** June 24, 2019 (AoE) - Updated: Poster, Demo submission deadline ****

The ICAT-EGVE 2019 conference will be held September 11th – 13th in Tokyo, Japan. This is the merger of the 29th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT 2019) and the 24th Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE 2019).

International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT) and Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE) are two of the oldest international conferences in the world on Artificial Reality and Virtual Environments, and provide a unique opportunity for researchers, developers, and users to share their experiences and knowledges of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and 3D User Interfaces. ICAT-EGVE 2019 is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, make new ones, and experience all that Tokyo has to offer.

This year, ICAT-EGVE2019 will be held in Tokyo and co-located with the 24th Annual Conference of VRSJ (the Virtual Reality Society of Japan), the oldest domestic conference on VR/AR in Japan. The participants of ICAT-EGVE2019 can also access the conference of VRSJ without paying any additional fees. This offers a good opportunity to make relations with Japanese VR/AR communities and see talks, demos, and events.

Submission Guidelines

ICAT-EGVE 2019 seeks original, high-quality papers describing research, applications or systems in all areas of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Telexistence, and 3D User Interfaces. Research papers should describe results that contribute to advancements in the following areas:

  • 3D interaction for VR/AR/MR
  • VR/AR/MR systems and toolkits
  • User studies and evaluation for VR/AR/MR
  • Telexistence, Telepresence and Tele-immersion
  • Haptics, audio, and other non-visual modalities
  • Serious games and edutainment using VR/AR/MR
  • Presence, cognition, and embodiment in VR/AR/MR
  • Novel devices (both input and output) for VR, AR, MR, and haptics
  • Multi-user and distributed VR, AR, tele-immersion and telepresence
  • Immersive projection technologies and other advanced display technologies
  • Art and Entertainment using VR/AR/MR

Submissions in other related areas are welcome, too.

We have three submission categories for this conference: Papers, Posters and Demos.

Papers:

All papers should be submitted electronically to: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icategve2019.

Proceedings of ICAT-EGVE 2019 with accepted papers will be published in the Eurographics Digital Library and indexed in the ACM Digital Library.

Full papers must be in English and not exceed eight (8) pages in length. Short papers must be in English and not exceed four (4) pages in length. Both full and short papers should be formatted using the Eurographics format. A sample LaTex document, or Word Template are available.

ICAT-EGVE uses a double-blind review process. Therefore, submissions should not contain information that unnecessarily identifies the authors or their institutions or places of work. All papers must be submitted electronically as PDF. Authors are encouraged to submit videos to aid the program committee in the review of their submissions.

Submissions should be original, unpublished work, and should not be in submission to other venues concurrently. Any dual submissions will be rejected outright without review.

For each accepted paper a FULL registration at the conference is needed and at least one of the authors of each accepted paper is required to present their paper at the conference for the paper to be included in the proceedings.

Posters:

We invite the submission of poster presentations describing novel research ideas, work in progress, recently completed work, preliminary results, or unusual systems and applications. ICAT-EGVE 2019 seeks original, high-quality posters describing research, applications or systems in all areas of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Telexistence, and 3D User Interfaces.

All posters should be submitted electronically to:https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icategve2019.

The selection process for posters is curated. The posters will be selected by the program committee. The curated posters will be selected from poster submissions, as well as projects invited by the program chairs. Authors will not receive formal feedback on their submission other than the selection decision. Upon acceptance, the camera-ready version of the submission published in the conference proceedings, and published and indexed by the EUROGRAPHICS digital library.

Accepted posters will require that at least one author attends the conference to present the poster at the venue. The authors need to submit a video teaser for their work that will be shown at the beginning of posters and demos session.

Authors will be required to bring an A0 portrait poster and to prepare one slide for presentation at the conference.

Submissions should be in English and no more than 2 pages in length. They must be PDF files (only) with full author names and affiliations using the Eurographics Format. A sample LaTex document is available (EGauthorGuidelines-ICAT-EGVE2019-posters.tex).

Demos:

ICAT-EGVE 2019 offers the opportunity to showcase interesting and innovative applications in the fields of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and 3D User Interfaces. Meanwhile, it provides a great platform to engage and exchange ideas and scientific findings with a wide audience.

Prospective contributors are expected to submit a 2-page demo description. The selection process for demos is curated by the program committee. The curated demo content will be selected from demonstration submissions, accepted papers, as well as projects invited by the program chairs. Authors will not receive formal feedback on their submission other than the selection decision. Authors of accepted demos will have their demo descriptions published in the conference proceedings, and published and indexed by the EUROGRAPHICS digital library.

The description has to follow the standard EUROGRAPHICS format (see below). Your submission must include the following materials and information:

Basic submission information, including names, affiliations, contact information, and the title of the demo.

A 2-page paper describing the demo to be presented. The paper should describe the scenario (what the user will experience), the technology and techniques involved, and/or distinct features of the demo, as well as original contributions. The description has to follow the EUROGRAPHICS format. A sample LaTex document is available (EGauthorGuidelines-ICAT-EGVE2019-demos.tex). They must be PDF files (only) with full author names and affiliations using the Eurographics Format.

A 1-page (max) requirements description: provide a description of your demonstration setup, including space, size, electrical, networking, lighting, and sound requirements and any detail you think is important to make sure your demo will be successful. For example, mention if your demo is sensitive to the lighting/sound environment. You should also mention logistic issues (equipment to store before, during, and after the conference), time required to install and pack the demo, number of people required to set up and/or present the demonstration. Note that exhibitors are required to bring all necessary equipment and material for a successful demonstration. There is no official format for this document. Supplementary materials like videos are welcome. For each accepted demo a registration at the conference is needed and at least one of the authors of each accepted demo proposal is required to present their demo at the scheduled demo session.
